Uzma Mahmood


Dr Uzma Mahmood is a medical graduate from Punjab University, Pakistan and a member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (2008) and the Royal
College of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists (2009). She received her MD from the University College Cork (2012), following studies on fetal microchimerism and maternal wound healing. Dr Mahmood has successfully completed her specialist training in the Irish training scheme and has worked in a number of hospitals across the country including the 3 busiest maternity hospitals namely the Rotunda, Coombe Women and Infants University and Cork University Maternity Hospitals where she has gained significant experience managing all aspects of pregnancy. She was awarded CSCST by the Irish Committee on Higher Training in 2017. She is a certified Colposcopist. She pursued further speciality training in robotic benign gynaecological surgery in Cork 2017.

Uzma took up a post as Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist at Limerick University & Maternity Hospital in 2018. At Limerick Maternity Hospital, she is the lead clinician for early pregnancy clinic and is lead in Robotic gynaecological surgery.

Uzma research has resulted in many peer-reviewed original papers and published conference proceedings. Uzma’s research interests include, polycystic ovarian syndrome, endometriosis, minimally invasive and Robotic gynaecological surgery. She is a member of the British Society for Gynaecological endoscopy, Society of European Robotic Gynaecological Surgery, and the British Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.
